Photographers Elke and Joachim Simon have always shared a passionate interest in nature in all its manifestations, including the children of the world. Their extensive journeys across all six continents – including various expeditions to deserts and rain forests, a nine week Antarctic expedition and several trips to Asia – inspired them to capture the beauty and uniqueness of the places and people they encountered in images and to create photographic projects as a means to tell their story.
In 1991 the couple founded the Simon|Simon publishing house in Cologne and successfully established a high-quality publishing programme centred around their own photographs and projects. They have produced calendars for private industrial enterprises and public organisations such as "Oro Verde" and "Unicef" and three unique photo books:
Digital photo editing and distortion opened up a whole new field of artistic interpretation and led to the founding of a gallery for their own photographic art work in the summer of 2014.
